Re-Dreams
A location performance for all senses.
Re-Dreams is a location performance, which is about questioning the relationship between dream and reality. Each of us dreams differently and interprets dreams in his/her own way. But what happens when we collectively step into a dream? In Re-Dreams we take the visitor on a joint journey through undiscovered dream landscapes. It seems as if there is no logic between the events, and yet they are all connected. The performance aims to evoke the authentic experience of both each individual and a group of people together.
At the beginning of the performance, we ask each visitor to write their own dream of the future on a card. Then a girl with angelwings takes everyone on this adventure. The visitors walk through a landscape of installations, unexpected performances, soundscapes and videos. Dreams about love, passion, fear and the search for a place of your own in the world are intertwined. This kaleidoscope of small stories with universal themes offers every visitor the opportunity to make their own story.
“Would you please tell me which way to go from here?” Alice asked. “That depends a lot on where you want to go,” de Cat said. This conversation from Alice in Wonderland tells us that it is not the place that matters, but the journey. It’s the same in Re-Dreams, as long as you’re on your way to your destination, it shouldn’t matter which path you take. In the end, it is not about the destination, but about the journey itself.
The performance is inspired by the 30th anniversary of ZID and parts of former ZID-performances are transformed into the here and now. The premiere took place at Explorez Festival 2022. On 20, 21 and 22 2022 May, Re-Dreams was shown six times in Broedplaats Bouw and ZID Theater.
