Here we are – Love

HERE WE ARE – LOVE a multidisciplinary programme by ZID Theater in which theatre, music, dance and special guests wonder about the power of love in these times.

29 April 2017 in Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, Rabozaal, 13. 00 | Book here.

Is love the weapon against destruction in these times? That is the central question put to all participating artists, guests and local residents by ZID Theater’s director Karolina Spaic.

Following the successful first edition of 2015, ZID now presents the second programme HERE WE ARE – LOVE at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. The programme was inspired by and developed in collaboration with Toneelgroep Amsterdam

Through dance, theatre, music, song and conversations, ZID Theater explores the various layers of love in a much changed society. Is love the weapon against destruction in these times? That is the central question put to all participating artists, guests and local residents by ZID Theater’s director Karolina Spaic.

The afternoon’s event will be opened by the director of the Fund for Cultural Participation Jan Jaap Knol. Moderator is spoken word artist and performer Babs Gons, also known from the recent TV-programme ‘Zing Nederlands met me’, with refugees in Paradiso.

Among the guests are notworthy Dutch-Moroccan singer Karima El Fillali, TV-maker Yvonne van den Heuvel van de Graaf, founder of platform ‘Ik geloof in liefde’, and other people who love their profession and their fellow men.

ZID Theater brings together a large group of neighbourhood actors from Amsterdam, Amersfoort and The Hague—actors who vary in age from 12 to 70 and who come from all over the world—to make a personal statement about love. They will perform together with actors Sebo Bakker and Claribel Rodriguez, dancer Jos Daamen and composer/musician Fiora Beuger

The programme HERE WE ARE was developed in collaboration with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the best-known theatre company of the Netherlands.

Inspiration by & collaboration with Toneelgroep Amsterdam

Love as the foundation for society and the starting point of any individual in life. Can love be radical? How can we reconcile our individual passion, our personal path with those of the current society?

We will start a dialogue about this through a unique collaboration with artists and neighbourhood actors, invited guests and Toneelgroep Amsterdam. The programme of HERE WE ARE – LOVE is inspired by Wish You Were Here by Toneelgroep Amsterdam, performed in the stage set of Kings of War and was further developed in ZID’s own colourful style.

by whom

Thirty neighbourhood actors from Amsterdam—varying in age from 12 to 70 from all over the world—make a personal statement in this day and age when we have no choice but to fall back on the original force of being human – love.

ZID makes a multidisciplinary programme with neighbourhood actors—passionate, talented people from Amsterdam—together with professional dancers and actors, directed by Karolina Spaic.
